There is nothing I love more than excerpts from books. Excerpts that may be a paragraph but within that paragraph so much wisdom, feeling, or movement. Here is one I found while writing a paper in college by Kate Chopin.
The Awakening, Chapter 28
This statement from Fitzgerald is a beautiful one. Honestly KNOWING the other person you are in love with is important.
I have met many couples who have been married for years who say, “Don’t get engaged too early and don’t get married too early.” Today the 20 something-year-olds are rushed so quickly into engagement. I honestly don’t think 6 months or even a year is enough to know, hey I wanna spend the REST OF MY LIFE WITH YOU. (speaking from a 9 month relationship experience)
Now I will say for those couples who don’t agree and are already married or engaged more power to you, I am glad you found your someone. But to those who are still in a relationship and pondering these things or to someone is devastated for not being engaged by 25…IT’S OKAY!
Take your time. Binding yourself to one person is a big deal.
That’s my rant for the day thanks to Fitzgerald!

“I feel the furies, the shrieking voices, wrap their coils around my neck. But rather than allowing myself to choke, I become a part of the shrieking and rise from around my own neck exactly as if I were wind. I blow and blow about the court, building toward explosion.” -Alice Walker (Possessing The Secret of Joy)
